Women farmers working in an organic vegetable field

Livelihoods programme

Farming as a shield against exploitation

Poverty and the lack of income opportunities are among the biggest drivers of trafficking and forced migration in Northern Ghana. This programme trained women farmers in practical organic vegetable production, giving families a sustainable source of food and income close to home.

By building agricultural skills and livelihoods in deprived communities, CIAHT reduces the pressure that pushes women and children into risky migration, street work and the hands of traffickers.
